SINCE1983
Rev. James Thornley and his wife Betty planted Stoney Creek Christian Fellowship, with Don and June Wenner, in 1983. They began in the Hamilton Public Library and soon moved several times to accommodate growth. In 1993 the leadership was passed to Michael and Janie Thornley who have been the Senior Pastors till the present day.
Our Beliefs
At our church, you will hear the word “gospel” repeatedly because it is the most important truth that we can know and experience. The gospel is not merely a message that needs to be shared with non-Christians, but also with Christians. It is not something that mature Christians move on from, but rather something that they move deeper into. The gospel is the lens in which we should view theology, ministry, and all aspects of life.
The Apostle Paul defined the word “gospel” concisely in 1st Corinthians 15:3-5 when he wrote, “Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.” Simply put, the gospel is all about Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, and the implications it has for us.

Mike Thornley - Senior Leader
Michael and Janie Thornley are senior pastors of Church on Hunter. They have a global vision to bring positive change through preaching and demonstrating the authentic message of Jesus Christ. By raising up a strong body of believers who manifest Godʼs love and power, their greatest desire is to bring transformation to the surrounding community, the nation and reach well beyond our borders.
Janie THORNLEY - SENIOR LEADER

Michele Allison - Worship Pastor
Michele Allison is the Worship Leader at Church on Hunter. Michele had been a worshipper since childhood and began on a worship team at age nine. Many faithful years have produced a leader who inspires and assists participants in experiencing the awesome presence of God.
